How to find and apply for care jobs in the UK

A practical guide to creating a care-worker profile, checking vacancies and applying for suitable UK care roles through SkilledCarer.

The short answer

Start with an accurate profile that explains your experience, qualifications, preferred roles, location and availability. Search current vacancies, read the full job details, check that the employer and conditions suit you, then submit a focused application. Creating a candidate profile and applying for jobs on SkilledCarer is free.

1. Build a profile employers can understand

Use your real work history and describe the care settings, duties and responsibilities you have actually handled. Add relevant qualifications and availability, and keep your CV current. Do not add credentials or experience you cannot support if an employer asks for evidence.

2. Search for roles that genuinely fit

On the SkilledCarer job board, you can search by role, employer or location and filter by employment type, salary basis and whether an employer says sponsorship may be considered. A sponsorship label is information from the vacancy, not a guarantee of an offer or visa outcome.

3. Check the vacancy before applying

  • Confirm the employer, workplace location and type of service.
  • Compare the duties with your training and experience.
  • Check the hours, contract type, salary basis and closing date.
  • Ask questions when essential working conditions are unclear.
  • Treat sponsorship wording as conditional and check current UK rules independently.

4. Apply clearly and keep track

Explain why your real experience matches the vacancy instead of sending the same generic statement for every role. SkilledCarer keeps your submitted applications together so you can review their status and respond to employer messages from your account.

Protect yourself while looking for work

Do not send money to secure a job and do not share passwords or one-time sign-in codes. Confirm an employer's identity and the terms of an offer before accepting it. Use SkilledCarer's reporting route if a listing or message appears suspicious.
